#Visuanalysis is the approach of creating visual models with the purpose of analysis in order to facilitate knowledge sharing, problem solving and solution definition. The models reference all aspects of an implementation project, from requirements to core technical solutions. Everything is covered: from the existing application to new developments, from the issues and bugs to the related impacted business requirements.
Have you ever relied on a whiteboard to better understand something or to facilitate communicating a problem or solution to your team? e-Tools does just that with its #visuanalysis: it automatically models the situation so that you can start working on the solution quicker and share the as-is status with all stakeholders. By this, it becomes the intelligent whiteboard for the Siebel implementation, providing the canvas on which to build the next developments.
Siebel applications have been actively used in business contexts since 2 decades. If it is a customized application, after years of developments it can look very different from the vanila version: Siebel often becomes a maze that the team find difficult to navigate. The #visuanalysis feature of e-Tools uncovers the map of that maze and provides the team with navigation aids that will help you achieve the business architecture you need.
A new Siebel development is a big undertaking. Siebel has so many features and possibilities that is hard for anyone to know them all. The #visuanalysis is helpful in uncovering features and supporting business requirement - technical implementation matching.
You can even start from an existing application View and obtain its architecture and dynamic behaviour. The #visuanalysis model maps all the possible dynamic automations (e.g. Workflows, Business Services, run-time events, scripts, etc.) offering you inspiration for the next feature design.
Because visual information is processed 600,000 times faster than text, it is language independent (thus reduces misunderstandings) and simplifies the overview in a glance, so that all stakeholders can be aligned on the current application status.
The brain was not created to process text, but rather to feast on the visual cues and elaborate them swiftly. Why not take advantage of this and improve the way you work in your project?
Start by understanding the user and business requirements and modeling them in visual format (use the Use Case Analysis and the Process Analysis). e-Tools helps you by allowing an easy way to navigate from the requirements model to the precise application view that you need. Going back and forth helps the end-users depict the context and the process of the requirement.
Add more context for the development by using the Domain model. It supports you in describing categories, affinities and associations, data definitions and dictionaries, etc.
Understand the existing application by automatically extracting its visual models. Once the visuanalysis is complete, you can create new solution designs or alternative development proposals on top of it.
Research shows that Siebel architects spend the majority of their time grasping the application in order to formulate new solutions. Business analysts, developers, testers and support engineers need to do the same. But every stakeholder does this in her/his mind, translating afterwards in documentation that has no meaning for the others and therefore is not rellay interchangeable.
e-Tools helps all stakeholders translating the ideas in visual models and automating the analysis. This reduces the workload, improves efficacy and efficiency.
Automated #visuanalysis is the automated process of creating visual models of the design of the application, its functional processes and usage scenarios. The models are inferred from the application itself to facilitate a better understanding.
e-Tools is unique as CASE tool because it automatically understands the Siebel application and it depicts it in simple visual models for all the project stakeholders.

You have questions about e-Tools? Find the most common questions and answers below.
e-Tools is the unique complete CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tool for Oracle Siebel CRM implementations. It is a modelling, analysis, design and management tool based on visual diagrams.
e-Tools supports a Siebel implementation from requirements gathering, to both functional and technical modelling and design: every diagram relies on Siebel core objects and concepts.
e-Tools embeds hundreds of automations to support and speed up your work with Siebel. Thanks to its analysis automations, e-Tools uncovers the existing application design and functional processes for you to work with. New designs can start from an as-is model of the current Siebel application, simply analysing your repository. Once the analysis is complete or the design is done, you can document it with a click.
All implementation stakeholders (from business to BAs, architects and developers, testers and quality assurance, support agents and managers, etc.) can use e-Tools in their daily Siebel project related work and exchange artifacts to improve collaboration in the project.
Prototyping or mock-ups, requirements elicitation and modeling, architecture overview, new designs, tests, technical support queries, etc; all can be accomplished with e-Tools.
e-Tools resides on our servers: we perform improvement and maintenance, manage users, and do all the administrative work so that you don’t have to worry about anything. When you use e-Tools, you access it online but it will be streamed on your local machine. You need administrative rights on your local machine only the first time. No need to install anything else afterwards and you can decide if and when receiving the application updates.
e-Tools runs completely on your environment: your data, metadata and the application do not leave your premises. When we do upgrades and updates, there is no need on your side to take action, we take care of everything so that you get the maximum value with the minimum effort.
There is NO modification required: streaming e-Tools uses the standard http 80 port. You need the administrator rights for your local machine only the first time.
NO: Your repository and data remain on your premises at all time. e-Tools is streamed from our servers to your local machines to do the job. It will run on your machines while you use it and it will get back “home” when you have finished your work. We do not have any access to your data, only e-Tools that runs on your local machine does. You will save your works in e-Tools projects on your machine or on your corporate intranet to share it with your colleagues.
Once you become an e-Up client, you get access to e-Tools via our website. For the first usage you need to have administrator rights on your local machine. Also, you will need to set up an ODBC to be used (Once Oracle won't use the local repository any longer (probably IP2017+) we will offer an ODBC-free access). Following usage does not require administrator rights, not even if the version of e-Tools changes.
We @e-Up always look for a way to improve things and add more functionality, alos following the continuous Oracle innovation on Siebel. Based on our clients’ requirements and proposals from the internal design team, we continuously develop new features. Updates and upgrades are transparent to the end-user: no need to re-install or take any other action.
NO, e-Tools works independently of Siebel Tools, being on premises or on the cloud.
YES, e-Tools supports both. We will focus more on Open UI for the future, as it is expected that everybody will eventually migrate (Oracle will stop supporting HI and focus only on OpenUI starting with IP16).
From time to time, we do trial campaigns. If you are interested, contact us requesting a trial. We will get back to you requesting information on how you want to use e-Tools for and your current Siebel project(s) and introducing you to the tool and features. Then we set up the trial environment for you and get you through an inception so that you can make the most out of the trial. Please note that the trial version is limited in terms of usage period and potentially also on functionality.
NO - e-Tools integrates with both standard Oracle customizations tools. it will perfectly integrate with Siebel Composer, extending all the new possibilities. Moreover, e-Tools supports automatic analysis and design, for both the technical and the functional side.

Ever wondered if all that hard work going into your CX system is really worth it? Companies have been investing huge amount of funds in buying, deploying, customizing and managing CRM applications, is there a real return of investment? After over 20 years of existence, 60% of CRM implementations still fail.
ZS Associates and the Sales Management Association looked into the details of using CRM software for sales and how this translates in value for the organization. [study available here]
"Perhaps not surprisingly, most respondents (72%) reported that their salespeople are not spending enough time on the company’s CRM platform."
Althought the survey focused on the Sales domain of CRM, thus not covering Service, Marketing, etc., it does offer an accurate perspective of the current situation: sales users of CRM systems are not happy about UX, the systems are not supporting their work but the work of their managers, the data is not accurate enough to be of real value for the company, etc. Sales representatives are often the interface between the company and its customers. If sales representatives are not happy (and supported in their work) the customers get a negative perception of the company. Also, if sales work is no good, it reflects on the entire organization (thus also on Service, Marketing, etc.).
"need to (...) do more to tie the CRM function to support of sales and marketing processes [74%]"
There is a lot that can be done to improve the situation. Start by designing the CRM systems to support the end users, not only the reporting mechanisms. How are the users currently doing their jobs? How can we help them? What can be automated? There are several points where help can be provided: planning & reminders, administration, reduced data entry, etc. What will keep them using the system during their daily activities? A mobile or tablet version can help? Having domain news embedded in the home screen? Online networking with colleagues and clients?
"boost user adoption [..] 54% of respondents cited as a priority"
Another interesting point that the survey raises is the fact that some companies got it right: the answer is in the details. CRM suites come with pre-packaged features and processes. If you want to have a competitive advantage, doing things exactly like your competition does not help. Innovation is often hidden in the processes: support your internal way of doing instead of imposing the CRM application’s processes.
In the end: better design means better user experience and better user experience means better customer experience.
Use the right tools to get there: e-Tools supports Oracle Siebel CRM implementations by enforcing best practices and improving design.

Answering to the issue raised on linkedin:
On service request detailed applet or service request list applet (Service Request Business Component)
When the Status field is set to closed the sub status field defaults to resolved, the applet is also set to read only. the task is to prevent sub-status field from defaulting to resolved when Status field is set to Closed..
This event also happens on Siebel Vanilla (Siebel Vmare)
Answer on LinkedIn:
I was curious about your question as it would seem straightforward... but you are right.. it is not.
So I opened our e-Tools and made an analysis on the Service Request Business Component. Using the Runtime events function I am able to find all related Action Sets. At my surprise, I immediately noticed there were 2 active Action Sets that did not have any associated action. By checking the properties of the connections I found out that these Action Sets were exactly on the 2 fields you have an issue with... interesting!
So I opened a web session directly on e-Tools and went to the RunTime events Administration View (you can reach them directly from the e-Tools objects). I inactivated the 2 Action Sets and made a test: at that point the behaviour you are experiencing was not longer there.
This is an example of hidden Siebel functionality that does not follow standard customization practice. In this case, for example, we would expect to find related actions that define the behaviour. Thanks to e-Tools we were able to bring on a quick analysis and visually identify the strange design.
Please look at https://www.e-up.pro/e-upblog/entry/e-tools-usage-example to see the automatically generated analysis diagram for this scenario.
Before changing this behaviour on your production environment you should evaluate any impact and do a thorough regression analysis!

In this video we compare a standard analysis done using Siebel Tools with the innovative approach offered by e-Tools. As you can see, not only you can execute quicker and deeper analysis, but you automatically get a documentation of your work. With Siebel Tools, as with any other IDE, included the future CRM Composer, you get only a view over your application meta-data, but you don't build any other semantic on top of it.
e-Tools will give you the possibility to speed up the analysis over your meta-data and will build up a knowledge meta-repository that will include Siebel objects, custom documentation, analysis diagrams - all in one shared environment. Your team will finally collaborate to make the perfect next release of your Siebel application!
